No.CB (1) 8140 (97)
Office of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies
                                              Thiruvananthapuram, 29-9-1997

CIRCULAR No. 24/97

Sub:   Comprehensive Crop Insurance Scheme-State Crop Insurance Fund Committee-meeting-decision-follow up action-reg.

During the meeting of States Crop Insurance Fund Committee held on 12-9-1997 in the Chamber of APC the representative of GIC has pointed out that the amount received by the PACS towards the Crop insurance claims are not regularly credited to the accounts of the loanees and the amount thus released by GIC is being kept under suspense account by the societies.  In the said meeting held under the chairmanship of Agricultural production commissioner it has been decided that the amount pending adjustment with the PACS on this account should be released to the beneficiaries immediately and the claim received by the societies should be passed on to the beneficiaries then and there itself without keeping the amount under suspense.  The amount received from GIC can not be kept under suspense account by the Societies on the simple reason that such loan accounts have been closed.

Under the above circumstances the societies are directed to strictly follow the practice of releasing/crediting the amount received from GIC  on account of Crop Insurance claim then and there itself without keeping such amount under suspense account.  The amount now being kept under suspense on this account should be released/credited to the accounts of beneficiaries immediately.  Any slackness on the part of societies in this regard will be viewed very seriously, and appropriate action will be taken against such societies.
